Jim Moulson, President RIBI (Short Report & Photo Collage)

Wed, Apr 27th 2011 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

First, sincere thanks to Peter Croan, President of Galashiels & District Rotary Club, for the superb photo collage (above). Our members were delighted to welcome a number of visiting Rotarians to this most entertaining and informative talk from Jim Moulson, President of Rotary International Britain & Ireland (Rotary GB&I).

Jim, a former police officer and a member of the Rotary Club of Paisley Callants, used the word 'FIRST' to illustrate some of the benefits and issues, now and in the future, for Rotary membership and Rotary's influence on the wider world:

F - fellowship & fun

I - integration & imagination

R - recruitment, retention & respect

S - satisfaction & service

T - time & talent

Some serious topics were raised at the Q&A session with the answers, in some cases, giving cause for further thought. The Club's vote of thanks was given by Rotarian Peter Kew who indicated that we had thoroughly enjoyed the talk including reminiscences related to 'the quickest road out of Edinburgh' as demonstrated by one of our members who had been a police colleague some years ago!
