This Black History Month, Bromley Borough Rotary Club proudly partnered with Your Bromley and Start Up Bromley to host a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and history. Our exhibit featured the impactful Footsteps Project in Kenya, highlighting how Rotary has made a difference in the lives of children by providing essential resources like water, schools, books, and training support.

The event was a feast for the senses, with delicious offerings from Black and Asian food stalls that supported local businesses on the High Street. Families enjoyed engaging activities, including African drumming and textiles workshops, fostering a deeper appreciation for diverse traditions. The lively entertainment by Steel Pan in Motion added a wonderful touch to the festivities.

Additionally, Start Up Bromley facilitated a session on Black Entrepreneurship Across Africa and the Diaspora at Bromley Library, further enriching the day’s offerings. The celebration culminated with the Black Heroes Soul Food Café, featuring an evening filled with fun, music, dance, quizzes, and an open-mic, creating a joyful space for community connection.

Special thanks to our dedicated members Denise Meade-Hill and Joyce Fraser, along with Chandra Sharma, for their hard work in organising these memorable events. Our thanks also to the Glades Management Team. Together, we honoured and celebrated the rich history and contributions of the Black community.
