Bromley Borough Rotary Club recently provided a morning of mock interview practice for students at a local secondary school, helping young people build confidence, develop communication skills and gain valuable experience for future college, apprenticeship and employment applications.

The session formed part of the school’s wider careers and life‑skills programme, giving students the opportunity to sit one‑to‑one interviews with experienced volunteers from the Rotary Club. Each student was asked to prepare a short personal statement and respond to typical interview questions, with the aim of helping them reflect on their strengths, aspirations and achievements.

Rotary members reported that the students were engaged, thoughtful and well prepared, with many demonstrating impressive maturity and self‑awareness. For the students, the experience offered a rare chance to practise interview techniques in a supportive, realistic setting — something that many young people find invaluable as they begin planning their next steps.

At the end of each interview, students received personalised feedback to help them improve their presentation, communication and confidence. Staff at the school commented on how beneficial the experience was and how much the students appreciated the opportunity.

Bromley Borough Rotary Club is committed to supporting local young people through practical, hands‑on initiatives that build skills, confidence and aspiration. The Club looks forward to continuing its partnership with local schools and helping students prepare for bright futures.
