Members of Bromley Borough Rotary Club enjoyed a memorable and insightful visit to the RNLI Tower Lifeboat Station on Tuesday 30 June, gaining a close‑up understanding of the lifesaving work carried out by the charity’s busiest lifeboat crew.
Located on the Thames at Victoria Embankment, Tower Lifeboat Station operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, responding to emergencies along one of the UK’s most challenging waterways. The Rotary group received a warm welcome from the RNLI team, who shared first‑hand stories of rescues, training, and the unique demands of operating on the river.
During the visit, the lifeboat was out on a training exercise, giving members the chance to observe the crew’s professionalism and coordination as they returned to the pier. The group were able to meet crew members, explore the station’s facilities, and learn how rapid response, specialist equipment and continuous training help save lives in central London.
Rotary members described the visit as fascinating, humbling and deeply impressive, praising the dedication of the RNLI volunteers and staff who stand ready to respond at a moment’s notice. The experience strengthened the Club’s appreciation of the RNLI’s vital role in keeping river users safe.
Bromley Borough Rotary Club extends its sincere thanks to the RNLI Tower team for their hospitality and for providing such an engaging and informative visit.
