President Robin Taylor handed over to Past President Peter Gammon for a cheque presentation.
During Peters Presidential year he nominated Leukaemia UK as his chosen Charity. Over the course of the year we raised £3730 a cheque for this amount was presented to the CEO of the Charity Angela Smith-Morgan.
Angela thanked usfor all our hard work in raising this money. HRGO have also fund raised for the Charity and have raised £1128.Roddy Barrows from HRGO said a few words on behalf of the Company.
President Robin then introduced our guest speaker, Dr Konrad Grosser who is an Interventional Cardiologist.
Dr Grosser was born in Germany but now lives in Canterbury with his family. He completed his basic medical
training in the UK. He gave us a potted history of interventional cardiology beginning in 1710/11 when Stephen Hales carried out the first cardiac catheterisation on a horse! He told us about all the developments over the years and the introduction of stents, which can now actually be made of sugar.
