Memorial lunch for Samuel Fournillier

On Sunday 17^th June we gathered with Samuel’s family, my fellow Rotarians and with our family and friends to commemorate and celebrate the short life of Samuel, who sadly passed away last January at the tender age of 18 years, after only having been diagnosed with Leukaemia during the Christmas holiday.

Sam was a very gifted artist and some of his gigantic paintings were on display.

The lunch took place at Spring Grove School marquee in Wye and the catering was done by his father, David and his colleague Thierry, who were assisted by their wonderful staff and families.

During the lunch we were brilliantly entertained with some Jazz  played by pupils from Norton Knatchbull School and some guests ventured on  to the dance floor.

The aim of the lunch was to raise funds for Leukaemia related charities and give some support to the art department at Sam’s school.

Thanks to the sponsorship and generosity of so many people, we will be able to donate:

ü £500 to “Children with Cancer UK” (Paul’s House in London near UCH)

ü £500 to “Teenage Cancer Trust”

ü £350 to the Norton Knatchbull art department

ü Leaving just over £800 to Leukaemia UK.
