24 schools across the South of England submitted a record 1158 entries on this year's subject - Atmosphere

Category Winner - Henry Miller – Wildern School

April 18th 2024, saw the culmination of this year’s Interschool Photographic Competition

sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ringwood in conjunction with Ringwood Academy School,

in a reception held at Ringwood Academy School.

The competition was in its 11year and has grown from one school competing to a record 24

schools across the South of England. A record 1158 entries were received this year on the

subject “Atmosphere”. Entres were to the four categories of Primary, Y7 -10, Y11-13 and

Adult. Judging involved members of Ringwood Academy Art & Photographic Department,

Ringwood Rotary Club, The Royal Photographic Society, The Arts University Bournemouth

and the New Forest Heritage Museum, Lyndhurst.

Student Category Winners and Runners up received tokens for camera accessories, a book

and certificate. Additional certificates and prizes were provided for winners chosen by the

Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) judges. The

award of a camera and accessories for the Michael Lingam -Willgoss (MLW) Rotary Club of

Ringwood Young Photographer of the Year was chosen by an independent judge, from the

three student category winners.

We’ve been supporting Ringwood Junior School’s Engineering Club for over 12 years now. To help fund the club we’ve secured sponsorship for them from Armfield Ltd. Managing Director Andy Macpherson joined us at our recent meeting.

Wow! If you weren’t at The Barn yesterday evening you missed a great night with The Swing Unlimited Big Band. 180 of us danced the evening away and raised funds for good causes. A really great evening.

On 3rd July we said a big ‘thank you’ to our outgoing President, Trevor Pogson, and ‘hello’ to our new President, Maddie Phillips. The Rotary Club of Ringwood was Chartered in 1947 so Maddie becomes our 77th President.
