Community Projects

Parkstone Rotary continue to be very active in the local community with a number pf projects both new and ongoing.

1. Education -

As well as the Education and Literacy support given through the Rotary Foundation we have had a successful year including "Youth Speaks" and the annual schools "Technology Tournament" which was a great success. Also, we have been involved with several school Mock Interviews and a Careers Fair. Plans are already in hand for 2025/26 events.

2. Community Projects -

  • Friends of Dolphin - This was our 2024/25 President's charity and a number of events were organised  during the year including coffee mornings, a sponsored walk, Xmas collections etc. All together over £6000 was donated to the charity.
  • Turners Nursery - Over many years out support has continued and recently we funded identification labels for trees in the orchard.
  • Classic Car Show - An ongoing annual support.
  • Medical Assistance Dogs - An event was hosted in Alexandra Park highlighting the training and work of the dogs.
  • Bournemouth Churches Housing Association - We provided hats and gloves for the homeless.

3. Environmental -

  • Win on Waste - Continuing to look for recycling opportunities.
  • Litter Picking - Regular Saturday collections at Turlin Moor. A derelict boat has been planted  and we have donated towards plants and compost.
  • Oakdale Junior school - Support for the after school gardening club including the donation of tools and a gardening shed.
  • Green space in Parkstone - A new project is under investigation.
