"A Conversation with Dawn Wood – Social Enterprise in Action. Dawn is Head of Development at Minstead Trust. Plus a cheque presentation for the Haematology Education Fund.

A VERY INTERESTING EVENING. AN INFORMAL CONVERSATION WITH DAWN WOOD, PRESIDENT PHILIP AND MEMBERS. IN ADDITION A CHEQUE PRESENTATION TO THE TWO WARD SISTERS FROM SOUTHAMPTON GENERAL WHO HAD LOOKED AFTER PHILIP. .

Instead of our usual speaker on this  Family and Friends evening, after dinner we had two armchairs with Philip and Dawn Wood seated and an enthusiastic audience. Everybody was encouraged to ask questions of Dawn during the session - and they did. Philip led the discussion and questions.

Dawn  is head of development at the Minstead Trust.  Trust incorporates Training and Support Services, Furzey Gardens, Hanger Farm Arts Centre and the Minstead Lodge Hospitality Centre (where we will be going for President's Night on 31 May)

The purpose of the Special Enterprise Scheme is to provide training and support for people with learning disabilities to enable them to develop new skills, lead fufilled lives and greater independence. More information is available on the website at www.minsteadtrust.org.uk/who-we-are.

The format of the evening was an experiment and proved a great success.

In addition Philip had invited as guests Senior Sister Glessi Cervantes  and Sister Patricia Silva from Ward C6 at Southampton General.  C6 is the transplant ward where Philip was in isolation twice for several weeks and he presented them with a cheque from the Club for £1,000 for the Haematology Education Fund, the designated fund for continuous professional development of the staff there.
