CLIVE RUTLANDS ISLE OF PURBECK WALK.

Tue, May 14th 2019 at 12:00 am -

Culmination of several training walks. designed to keep us fit and active. All levels of activity covered.

WALKING PROGRAMME FOR 2019

It is proposed that a walk from Sandbanks to Corfe Castle (and back for some) to take place in the first two weeks of May 2019 to prove that we can still do it (it was a training walk for our 3 Peaks Walk and subsequent adventures) and to give Phil Dinn a chance to show that he is fully recovered. The availability of trains into Corfe Castle from Wareham gives members a chance to join in without walking long distances.

The walk is 11 miles approx one way - if we go via Old Harry and both legs (!!) - 22 miles – and can be readily undertaken from 08:00 to 18:00 on an early Summer’s day. I propose that it be on SUNDAY MAY 12th.

It is not proposed that it be a fully sponsored event but we will take the opportunity to raise some funds for the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust that has supported Phil so vitally. More of that nearer the date.

It is proposed that we will have some training events to ensure that we have a reasonable prospect of making it without embarrassment or injury. There are some dates below that we could head for.

We would start by doing Sandbanks to Old Harry and back and take it from there. The re-built Knoll Beach NT café and Middle Beach tea house are available to provide refreshments. Some of the dates are for the weekends to recognize that some members still work for a living!!!

❖ Sunday 20 January – 09:00 at Sandbanks - est. 3 + hours

❖ Sunday 17 February – 09:00 at Sandbanks - est. 3 - 4 hours

❖ Wednesday 6 March – 09:00 at Sandbanks - est. 4 -5 hours

❖ Wednesday 27 March – 08:00 at Sandbanks - est. 5- 6 hours

❖ Sunday 7 April - 08:00 at Sandbanks - est. 6-7 hours

❖ EASTER 19 – 22 APRIL – NO WALK

❖ Wednesday 24 April 08:00 at Sandbanks - est. 8-9 hours
