PHOTOS BY RAY DAWES-----------------STORY BY PHILIP.
This year’s handover was different in that there was no handover as President Philip continued in office for another year. His last act for the last year was to award the Mac Davison trophy to George Stephens for his practical support in so many club activities.
There were 2 representatives from the new nominated charities to outline the work that they carry out in our local communities. Mary Pye PHF from The Rotary Club of Becton and District was the Trustee representative from Home Start Hampshire (New Forest). The original New Forest Home Start is now part of a national charity but retains the independent office and she explained that Home Start have a policy of local monies raised are spent on local projects. There is now a specific activity based in Totton where there is a perceived need.
Alison Talbot the Chief Executive of Citizens Advice New Forest explained how Citizens Advice New Forest is also an independent charity which operates under a national identity. They also have a Totton office which has local community support. President Philip was pleased to be able to welcome the representatives of both organisations that have clients with complex needs, and which depend on local financial support. We look forward to working with them over the coming year.
President Philip was pleased to be able to welcome Jane Wilson-Brown to the team as Community and Vocational co-ordinator. He highlighted the various club activities already underway for this year and how these are already being publicised on our excellent website.
