"What a wonderful day we had! The Roger Lees Memorial Classic Car Rally now in it's 5th year was held on a beautiful Spring day in early May. Participants were from the Flounders Club (of which Roger was founder member) and Rotary.

26 cars from ancient to modern traversed a country route from Burley to Tarrant Monkton via South Gorley, Mockbeggar,Stuckton, Fordingbridge, Whitsbury (coffee break at Cartwheel Inn) and onwards through archetypal English villages with evocative names: Stratford Tony, Broad Chalke, Ebbesborne Wake, Alvediston, Tollard Royal, Sixpenny Handley and to ourfinal destination for lunch-Tarrant Monkton at the Langton Arms-what a superb venue and lunch!

The oldest car was a 1926 (yes-90 years old!) Austin 7 driven by Ian Mason-Smith supported by his wife Pam-both newcomers who won the quiz by solving all the clues along the route. Two other cars to pick out for their antiquity were a 1934 Sunbeam Speed owned by John White and a 1936 Rover crewed by Paul Crew.

The Roger Lees cup went to Philip Dinn for the car the judge would most like to take home with him - a 1955 Triumph TR2. Brilliant organisation by Bridget & Geoff Gook & Sue Gully ensured a very successful day-here's to next year " Tony.

Bridget Gook added "This event luckily seems to grow each year and to my delight I did not have to advertise the event. There were 56 participants.

Grateful thanks to Ken Ball, Philip and Fiona Dinn, Sue Gully and Mary Adock."
