REVIEW BY LAWRIE LANSDELL WHO ORGANISED THE VISIT:-

"After an uneventful journey, we 13 members and partners arrived in good time for our tour. Our guide, Tony knight, was excellent and explained in great detail every aspect of the functioning of Farnborough throughout our 3 hour visit

The airport is the oldest in the UK and was where Cody operated his pleasure flights; sadly Cody was later killed in a flying accident at this airport.

We were taken up close to some of the executive jets owned by the good and great, but understandably not invited to board any!

One of the most interesting aspects of the tour was when Tony's colleague Holly went into considerable detail in explaining the high level of care exercised by management where environmental initiatives were concerned.

We were then treated to a drive down the runway and having the landing lights turned on for our benefit!

Our best experience in my opinion was a visit to the top of the control tower, where we shared the same area as the NATS air traffic controllers and from where we were able to watch a private Boeing 737 come into land.

To satisfy the curiosity, TAG stands for TECHNIQUES d'AVANT GARDE; the company is owned by two very wealthy brothers.

After the tour, our outing culminated in a visit to a nearby hostelry for lunch; the Crown and Cushion was where the thirsts of the morning were sated!"

ON 20 APRIL THE SECOND GROUP VISITED AND DID THE TOUR AND LUNCH - EQUALLY SATISFIED.
