Joining Rotary carries a commitment to dedicate some time to the club’s regular meetings and activities and we recognise that some people may not feel they can make a full commitment from the outset.
Work or family schedules may prevent regular attendance at our meetings. Others may not be ready to jump fully into Rotary, but want to learn and experience more before making the decision. For these reasons the club offers Associate Membership.
Associate Members enjoy all the benefits of being a Rotarian, but without the full commitment. It will allow you to become associated and acquainted with the Rotary Club of Gosport. You will enjoy fellowship with our members and be able to participate in the club's programme and projects. You will be required to comply with the rules of the club, although you will have no voting rights.
As an Associate Member, you will be invited to support our charity fund-raising events, our social meetings, including those at Christmas, and the annual Installation Dinner at which our new President takes office. This will enable you to experience first-hand the work and fellowship of Rotary.
We hope you will be able to attend our meetings and events as often as you are able to. We would like you to attend at least two dinner meetings when we have a speaker, along with for of our shorter meetings during the 12 months. This will help you to gain a good guide as to what Rotary is all about.
The more you attend the quicker you will get to know how the club works. In return, the club will provide you with frequent communications about the club's activities.
Associate membership costs nothing in terms of fees. The only cost to you will be the price of the meals when you attend a meeting, which amounts to around £12 for a two-course meal. Should you become a full member, the club fees are around £11 a month - less than a cost of coffee a week!
We would be pleased to meet with you, answer any questions you might have and explain in more detail what Rotary and Associate Membership is all about. Contact John Lovell at: john.lovell2@virginmedia.com
