The Wickham Writing Project 2025

On the subject of 'Pollution'

The annual project has been run at Wickham Church of England Primary School, under the direction of the deputy head, since 2019 in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Fareham Meon.

It is supported through a bequest from a former Rotarian, Tom Houghton and has proved very popular with pupils, excellent entries being submitted and winners awarded vouchers or book tokens donated by the Rotary Club.

In 2025 the subject was 'Pollution'. In previous years pupils were asked to submit entries on subjects of general interest such as ‚'Bullying' and their 'Aspirations'.

This year there were 47 entries submitted in the mid-November and numbered for anonymity. Two judges from the Club met and considered the entries and agreed three prize winners. The deputy head agreed with the judges‚ results but recommended that another pupil had far out-performed the expectations of their teacher so an additional (third-equal prize) was added.

The trophy, along with four Amazon vouchers of £35, £25, two at £15 were presented in the school hall to the whole year of pupils in December.
