An award today for a member of our Club who is a Past President and has exceeded 50 active years in Rotary.
He originally joined Rotary in Congleton, Cheshire and joined RCG on 29 June 2005 following his move to the island with his wife Norma who sadly is no longer with us.
Yes - Terry Andrew. Terry was President of the Rotary Congleton Club in 1996/1997 and was an active member there particular with his links to the business community.
In more recent years, Terry owned a beautiful property in St Peters and on his wish list for the property was to have a first class green for English lawn bowls that he created in the grounds. This required a lot of maintenance but he was very proud of this amenity and kindly hosted many handover events when after a picnic lunch a Rotary Lawn Bowls competition was held with Terry providing the necessary coaching and regular criticism whilst trying to keep track of everybody’s very erratic scores.
Terry is a regular attendee at lunch meetings and all other events. He has supported the continued growth and development of the Club even though he would have preferred Rotary to have remained a male only Club! He is well known in suggesting to potential female members that they should join Rotary Guernesiais or Inner Wheel instead!
It gives me pleasure as the Rotary Club of Guernsey first female President to present you with a Paul Harris Award.
