The talk will explore the role social media plays in young people’s lives today, looking at both the opportunities it creates and the risks it can bring.
Krista will cover how social media can be a powerful tool for connection, creativity, learning and even business growth, while also highlighting the pressures young people face online, including comparison, misinformation, AI-generated content and reputational damage.
The talk will focus on how adults, including parents, grandparents, carers and the wider community, can better understand the digital world young people are growing up in and support them to use social media safely and responsibly. Rather than taking a fear-based approach, it will encourage practical, informed conversations about online behaviour, digital footprints, privacy, judgement and trust.
The overall aim is to help the audience feel more confident in supporting young people, while also becoming more aware of the online risks and responsibilities that affect all of us.
