Subject: The Village at Le Murier.

The Village at Le Murier

We look forward to hearing from Bruce MacInnes, Trustee, and Gary Dovey,  Manager, on the exciting progress of the residential training facility for young people with additional needs to help them develop independent living skills.

The Village will consist of a Village Hall, four log cabins (each capable of accommodating up to 8 students and a member of staff in 3 bedrooms), a wilderness area and a small farm.

They have raised c. £1.3 million to date and have a further £600k to go.  Guy & Julia Hands have recently made a substantial contribution which includes a matched giving scheme for part of their donation.

Talk Report

It Takes a Village to Raise A Child

We were delighted to welcome Bruce MacInnes, Chair of The Village at Le Murier to our lunch meeting on 22nd April. Bruce explained how he and his family had relocated to Guernsey three years ago because of the facilities at Le Murier, having viewed many similar facilities around the British Isles. A year ago he joined the board and took on the task of bringing the vision to fruition.

He introduced us to the exciting progress of the residential training facility for young people with additional needs to help them develop independent living skills. The centre will provide real support to the wider community as well as the school population.

The Village will consist of a Village Hall, four log cabins (each capable of accommodating up to 8 students and a member of staff in 3 bedrooms), a wilderness area and a small farm.

He highlighted the amazing success to-date, having raised c. £1.3 million (allowing the Hall and 2 lodges to be opened) and have a further £600k to go.  Guy & Julia Hands have recently made a substantial contribution which includes a matched giving scheme for part of their donation.
