Speaker: Rob Jones, Chief Executive, Les Bourgs Hospice.
Subject: Les Bourgs Hospice.

Rob Jones is Chief Executive Officer of Guernsey Hospice, based at Les Bourgs, where he leads the organisation’s mission to provide compassionate, high-quality palliative and end-of-life care for islanders and their families.

With extensive senior leadership experience in health and social care, Rob is committed to ensuring hospice services remain clinically excellent, financially sustainable and deeply rooted in the community they serve.

He works closely with clinicians, trustees, volunteers and partners across the Bailiwick to champion innovation, collaboration and person-centred care, while advocating for the vital role hospice plays within Guernsey’s wider health and care system.

Talk Report

We were delighted to welcome Rob Jones, CEO, Les Bourgs Hospice on 21st January.

Having shared his personal story and lived experience, including a moving example of how his local Rotary Club in Wales many years ago had literally knocked on his door to ask if they could help him, he shared the successes the Hospice has had and is having in it’s 35th year, together with the threefold challenges of additional costs (fuelled by “medical inflation”), greater demand (all beds are presently taken, with increased referrals from Health & Social Care) and a tougher fundraising environment (hospices in the UK typically receive over 30% Government funding, with Jersey’s over 40%), so important as the ethos of the Hospice since it’s founding is that families do not pay for the care they receive.

Rob personally, and the Hospice generally, are working with HSC and other partners to develop a palliative care strategy for the Bailiwick which. A highly inspiring and thought provoking guest.
