I’m pleased to confirm a new initiative for the “5th Wednesday of the month”, 29th October, 8.30am, a beach clean at Rocquaine Bay, followed by breakfast at the Himalayan Kitchen around 10.00am.
We will be led by the Clean Earth Trust https://cleanearthtrust.org who will provide buckets, gloves and litter pickers for those who wish. We will begin with a briefing at 8.30am sharp on the beach by the Cup and Saucer (look for their large feather flag from the pathway opposite the café) covering safety and an outline of the activity. Once kit has been made available, the collection of marine litter begins and will last about 50 mins. The collected waste is separated into categories and the quantities within each category are counted. That data is then logged. This stage usually lasts about 30 mins. In effect, we will become citizen scientists by gathering the data which forms the basis of the CET’s annual Marine Litter Reports.
A great team activity for us, making a little difference to our environment and enjoying a great breakfast! Guests, including holidaying grandchildren, most welcome.
No formal registration required, but it would be helpful if you could let christine.guerin@aspidagroup.com if you plan on attending so we can give the Himalayan Kitchen an idea.
In the event of wet weather, bring a coat!
