Larry Malčić gave us a fascinating and passionate overview of the Victor Hugo project and its progress.

During 15 years of exile in Guernsey, Hugo, as well as making the island his home, was prolific in his writing, art and asserting his humanitarian views.

The proposed Victor Hugo Centre, a unique opportunity for Guernsey, in a central location will house a museum, learning hub and events space and will benefit both locals and visitors alike.

We look forward to the project becoming fully funded by donations and matched grants.

A very exciting prospect for Guernsey.

Notice of Talk:

Larry will describe the vision for the proposed Victor Hugo Centre and will demonstrate the progress being made towards its realisation.

He will explain its three part programme, including a performance, event and exhibition space for Guernsey’s creative community, a learning hub for school children and students, and the museum/interpretation centre celebrating Hugo’s life, legacy and 15 productive years in Guernsey, his island of inspiration.

Larry will address the continuing importance of Victor Hugo’s legacy of literary, artistic and social achievements, the relevance of his words and actions in our world today, and the benefits that the Centre will bring to both Guernsey and an international audience.
