The Japanese Pavilion restoration
The Pavilion was officially opened by the Bailiff of Guernsey on Friday 17 September 2021. It is now fully accessible to the public following the project led by Rotary with the support of many in the community.

The Rotary Club of Guernsey are delighted to have led the project to replace the Japanese Fishing Pavilion at Saumarez park as part of our Centenary celebrations.
We hope that you will enjoy this gallery of photos and video as you share the journey that we have taken over the last few months. Our considerable thanks go to our sponsors, tradesmen and the many supporters and helpers who have worked so hard to complete this community project for all to enjoy.
The first wheel chair user ever to be able to get onto the pavilion and enjoy it’s wonderful views was our very own Mike Torode along with his wife Pauline. How fitting that it was such a dedicated member of our club that was able to test the new access for all facility.

The floor coverings have now been removed so the full detail of this lovely building can now be seen. The entrance is still closed off to the public until the opening.

Massive progress by Paul’s Joinery over the last couple of days. The floor is now in place along with support pillars. Please note the roof is only temporary!

What a day. The roof is off and the project is under way. Huge
thanks to Tony Froome from Bob Froome and Sons who literally lifted the
roof off. Plus of course the Rotary crew who have toiled in the sun
today.
The two signed pieces of wood are from the
original builders in 1936 and the 3 guys from States Works who did the
big repair in 1989.

Club Centenary
back The Centenary Year of the Club is now with us and plans have been made for a year of commemoration, celebration and raising the awareness of Rotary within the community.
