Things were far from stuffy at this years Rotary party. On Friday 60 members of
the Club, Inner Wheelers and partners descended on Cobo Community Hall to kick
off Christmas with a party.
Rather than place emphasis on Fine Dining,
Frocks and Speeches, the party consisted of, Fun, Frolics and Singing.
After a
hearty supper of Bangers & Mash, games master, Brian Acton, took control of
the room which soon abounded with quizing, reindeer racing, a Christmas
sing-a-long and (naturally) a visit from Santa himself who distributed prizes
for those Rotarians who had been particularly good this year. The highlight of
the evening was the animated rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas in which
everyone made their own particular and predictably overly enthusiastic
contribution.
The best dressed revellers prize went to the Steers who
came fully decked as Santa and his wife and part time Town Guide, Gill Girrard,
was (unsurprisingly) the winner of the photo quiz.
Yet again the Social
Committee came up trumps - so particular thanks to organisers Brian and Donna-Mae Acton and their helpers, Tony and Sue Spruce and Nigel and Jocelyn Dorey for
all their hard work.
The Club Membership wish all the Agencies, Sponsors
and other Organisations with whom they work a Splendid Christmas and every Good
Fortune in the New Year. May we continue to work together to serve our Community
in 2018 with the same energy and enthusiasm as we have in the year past.
