Set in over 120 acres adjacent to Vazon Bay on Guernsey's glittering west coats, the Hawtree-designed 18-hole golf course at La Grande Mare Resort provides a stunning venue for this annual Charity Golf Day, which takes place on Friday 16 June, in aid of Wessex Heartbeat and Smile4Wessex.
(On Wednesday 3 May our guest speaker was Neil Westbrook of Smile4Wessex. Neil gave us a detailed presentation on the work of the charity
and there is no doubt that their strapline "Neurological conditions
shape the lives of millions" is certainly not an exaggeration. Neil
revealed startling statistics and a copy of his presentation is above. We will next meet Neil when he acts as MC
for the golf day and evening on Friday 16th June).
This is the fourth year that The Rotary Club of Guernsey has organised this event, raising well over £20,000 in its first three years.
These jointly benefitting charities are dedicated to enhancing the range and quality of care provided by the Wessex Cardiac and Wessex Neurological Centres at Southampton General Hospital - centres which provide acute care and dedicated accommodation for many Guernsey residents.
Every year over 300 local residents make use of these life saving facilities, with many Rotarians from the club having either used the facilities personally, or have had family and friends making use of them.
We are delighted to once again be organising this event and invite any Rotarians and their friends to come over to Guernsey and take part in a really fun day and evening presentation meal.
The competition will be contested by teams of four over 18 holes and will be followed by an evening dinner and prize giving, together with a charity auction.
