The bowls evening held at the Hougue du Pommier bowling centre on Saturday 9th February was a resounding success, with 29 Rotarians, partners and friends participating.
The evening was organised by Art Leadbeater and began with everyone meeting in the bar at 7.00pm. Bowling began at 7.30 and a buffet was laid on from 9.00.
Many of the attendees had never bowled before, but expert tuition was provided by members of the Bowling club, who turned out in numbers to ensure we all had a great time.
As usual there are always one or two "ringers" at these events and the closet bowlers that took the rest of us to the cleaners on this occasion were Keith Misselbrook (who even had his own towel for cleaning his balls!), Jan Leadbeater and Jocelyn Dorey, both of whom insisted they had not played before (we believe them).
The evening concluded with Art giving a vote of thanks to the Bowling club and its members and the Rotarians and friends etc. who supported the event. Nigel Dorey (President Elect) closed the evening by thanking Art for all his work in organising what was a very successful and enjoyable evening.
