This was a joint evening organised between the two local Rotary Clubs, the Rotary Club of Guernsey & Rotary Guernesiais, and was held at Government House on 20th April 2012. The evening was organised to raise funds for the Guernsey Teenage Cancer Trust and raised the sum of £11,925.10.
What was unique about this event was the fact that it took place in a marquee set in the grounds of Government House, and the event would not have been possible without the generous assistance of His Excellency Air Marshal, Peter Walker and Mrs Lynda Walker.
The challenge for the event was the fact that the location and marquee were offered with fairly short notice, which meant the organising committee had a relatively short time to put the evening together. The result was a themed James Bond evening "Diamonds are Forever" complete with casino and dancing to a live band.
Apart from the ticket sales there was a raffle and a silent auction for a list of very special and unique prizes. To add to the flavour of the evening, a helicopter and a microlight were parked up in the grounds as were a fleet of Aston Martins.
The evening was planned to be a glamorous affair and that is exactly how it turned out with a huge sum raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
