Paint it, draw it or photograph it! Rotary Guernsey is inviting young people aged 17 and under to show us their own creative interpretation of this year’s theme:

Friendship

What does friendship mean to you? It could be a special person, a treasured memory, teamwork, kindness, family, pets, nature or your community. However you interpret the theme, we would love to see your unique creative response.

The competitions are completely free to enter, and every entry will be displayed publicly at the George Crossan Gallery in the Market Buildings from 1 October to 10 November 2026.

No specialist equipment is needed. Artists can use a wide range of materials, while photographers can take their photograph using either a camera or a smartphone/mobile device.

Why take part?

  • See your work exhibited in a public gallery

  • Express what friendship means to you

  • Receive a certificate of recognition

  • Be in with a chance of winning a special experience prize

  • Have the opportunity to progress to the Rotary District competition—and potentially the national final

How to submit your entry

Email your completed Entry Form and digital entry to youth@rotaryguernsey.com by Tuesday 15 September 2026.

Young Artists should submit a clear photograph of their finished artwork rather than the original piece.

If your entry contains an identifiable image of anyone under 18 or a vulnerable adult, you must also include a completed Image Consent Form. This can be found at the back of each Information Pack.

Who can enter?

The competitions are open to young people living in Guernsey who are aged 17 or under on 31 August 2026.

Age categories

  • Junior: Up to and including 10 years

  • Intermediate: 11–13 years

  • Senior: 14–17 years

Rotary Young Artist

Develop your artistic skills and express your own ideas through this year’s theme of Friendship.

Create one original, unframed, two-dimensional artwork using any medium or combination of media. This could include paint, pencil, pen and ink, collage, printmaking, textiles or digital art.

Judging will be carried out digitally, so please submit a clear photograph of your finished artwork rather than the original piece.

Rotary Young Photographer

Explore the art of photography, capture a meaningful moment and communicate your ideas through an image inspired by Friendship.

You can take your photographs using a camera, smartphone or other mobile device.

Submit one photographic entry, which may be:

  • A single photograph; or

  • A collage created entirely from photographs you have taken yourself

Exhibition, prizes and recognition

The Rotary Club of Guernsey is delighted to be working in partnership with the Guernsey Arts Commission to present these competitions.

Every entry will be exhibited at the George Crossan Gallery, Market Buildings, from 1 October to 10 November 2026, giving family, friends and the wider community an opportunity to celebrate the creativity of Guernsey’s young people.

The winner of each age category in both competitions will receive a special experience prize, with details to be announced shortly.

Winning entries will represent Guernsey in the Rotary District judging, with District winners progressing to the national finals.

Every participant will receive a certificate of recognition.

Entries close Tuesday 15 September 2026

Please share these competitions with family, friends, schools, youth organisations and anyone who knows a creative young person.

We cannot wait to see how Guernsey’s young artists and photographers bring Friendship to life!
