Rotary Young Artist and Rotary Young Photographer

Calling all budding young artists and photographers in Guernsey

Calling Guernsey's young artists and photographers. Deadline 1st September 2026

Let your creativity shine!

Do you love being creative? Whether you enjoy painting, drawing, digital art, photography or capturing the perfect moment on your phone, Rotary Young Artist and Rotary Young Photographer are your opportunity to showcase your talent and imagination.

For 2026–27, the theme is:

Friendship

What does friendship mean to you? It could be a special person, a treasured memory, teamwork, kindness, family, pets, nature or your community. However you interpret the theme, we'd love to see your unique creative response.

Both competitions are open to young people living in Guernsey who are 17 years of age or under on 31 August 2026.

Age Categories

  • Junior: Up to and including 10 years
  • Intermediate: 11–13 years
  • Senior: 14–17 years

Please read the appropriate Information Pack before entering, as it contains the full competition rules, eligibility criteria and entry requirements.

If your entry includes an identifiable image of anyone under the age of 18 or a vulnerable adult, an Image Consent Form must also be completed.

Rotary Young Artist

Rotary Young Artist encourages young people to develop their artistic skills while expressing their own ideas through the annual theme.

Create one original, unframed, two-dimensional artwork using any medium or combination of media. This could include paint, pencil, pen and ink, collage, printmaking, textiles or digital art.

Your artwork must:

  • be entirely your own original work
  • reflect the theme Friendship
  • be accompanied by a completed Entry Form
  • include a short statement explaining how your artwork relates to the theme

Judging is carried out digitally, so you'll need to submit a clear photograph of your finished artwork rather than the original piece.

Rotary Young Photographer

Rotary Young Photographer encourages young people to explore the art of photography, capture meaningful moments and communicate their own ideas through images.

Photographs may be taken using either a camera or a smartphone/mobile device.

Submit one photographic entry, which may be:

  • a single photograph, or
  • a collage created entirely from photographs you have taken yourself.

Your entry must:

  • be entirely your own original work
  • reflect the theme Friendship
  • be accompanied by a completed Entry Form
  • include a short statement explaining how your photograph relates to the theme

Exhibition and Recognition

Rotary Club of Guernsey is delighted to be working in partnership with the Guernsey Arts Commission to present these competitions.

All entries will be exhibited at the George Crossan Studio, Market Building, from 1 October to 10 November 2026, giving family, friends and the wider community the opportunity to celebrate the creativity of Guernsey's young people.

The winner in each age category of both competitions will receive a special experience prize, with details to be announced shortly.

Winning entries will represent Guernsey in the Rotary District judging, with District winners progressing to the national finals.

Every participant will receive a certificate of recognition in acknowledgement of their achievement.

Closing Date

Entries must be received by Tuesday 1 September 2026.

We would be grateful if you could share details of these competitions with family, friends, schools, youth organisations and anyone who knows a creative young person.

We can't wait to see how Guernsey's young artists and photographers bring the theme of Friendship to life.
