RYLA 2006
The most recent RYLA course, held between April 2nd and 7th at The
Charterhouse Centre, near Blagdon in Somerset was attended by thirty
six 16 to 18 year old young leaders from around District1100, and was
an outstanding success.
The course provided a challenging
opportunity for participants to meet their personal objectives, develop
self esteem and improve their communication, leadership, and
presentation skills.
The carefully structured programme
included exercises backed by theory and regular reviews. Participants
were issued with a learning log at the beginning of the course, in
which they recorded their learning each day and which complimented
their own personal action plan.
The Rotary Club of Ross-on-Wye sponsored Felicity Jordan pictured
in the images wearing a red fleece. The Club is looking for suitable
candidates, aged 16-18 years, for the year 2007 which looks like being
held in the summer and thus should not rule anyone out because of exams.if the course met the participants expectations, a number
of participants responded, in a post course critique, that it '…totally
exceeded my expectation…', and '…bettered it…' Every single participant
said they would recommend RYLA to a friend, with some endorsing the
response with '…..definitely!…'
