Supporting Young People

We support young people in the community both in and outside of school

The Tall Ships experience - sending youngsters to sea to boost their confidence. Recent Tall Ships crew which includes local youngsters we have sponsored.

We support young people in many different ways.

Rotary provides various National competitions and we work with local schools to provide regional heats when the demand is there. These include Young Chef, Young Musician and Young Photographer.

We support schools who run mock interview and interview practice sessions with members being part of the interview panel.

We support the local Young Carers organisations, providing funds to help with some precious fun activities for young carers.

We take part in the annual Rotary Kids Out day, aimed at giving young people from a less advantaged background a fun day out.

We give opportunities every year for 2 or 3 local teenagers to take part in a Tall Ships experience, being part of a small team of a similar age sailing a racing yacht (with experienced crew on hand of course!) for a few days . This gives them invaluable life skills as they learn to be part of a team, doing watch duties, helping with food preparation .....and climbing the rigging for those unafraid of heights.
