Source of Life Project

Celebrating success in Monmouth

Our District Governor, Drewe Lacey (one from right), championed a partnership with organisations such as Friends of the River Wye and The Wye Usk Foundation. The project, supported by local Rotary Clubs, reinforced the call for volunteers for citizen science work in the Wye Valley, and was financially supported by 9 clubs.

To bring attention to the project, together with his daughter, Drewe walked the length of the River Wye - over 140 miles. 50% of the monies raised went to supporting environmental initiatives to mitigate pollution in the river.

The other 50% went to support Gist Cancer UK, supporting patients suffering from this rare form of cancer and to aid research. Drewe himself was diagnosed with the cancer in 2023.

To celebrate the success of the project, the partner organisations, together with all supporting Rotary Clubs came together for an awards evening.
