In December 2024, for the first time, Malvern Rotary, lead by new Youth Lead, Anne-Marie MacRae provided some Christmas joy to local children in domestic abuse refuges.
Anne-Marie shared the details of the project at one of our meetings "I strongly believe that this act of kindness at Christmas is so vital to these children who, through no fault of their own, have been deprived of a normal childhood."
Malvern Rotary Club took part in the initiative, supported by Kids in Mind, a children's charity that offers mental health and wellbeing support for children escaping domestic violence. Rotary across Great Britain and Ireland aimed to provide 1,000s of Rotary Christmas Toy Boxes to children who have escaped serious domestic abuse and are living in domestic abuse refuges. This gift may be the only present they receive at Christmas.
Working with Kids in Mind, every donation of £25 provided one box, for one child, of age and gender specific new toys with a value of £80 and Malvern Rotary Club were able to support the purchase of 40 toy boxes.
We aim to repeat our support for this project in 2025. If you would like to be involved or make a donation, please get in touch.
