Hereford City Rotary Club members Pauline and Kerry recently had a fantastic visit to Home-Start Herefordshire where they met with Scheme Manager Mandie Preece for a catch up having recently donated £500 towards the development of their new website.
Mandie an experienced and long serving member of the team explained the wonderful work being undertaken by their local community network of volunteers, who help families with children aged 0-18 years old through challenging times. Not only do they do this, the team also provide expert support and signposting along with friendship and practical advice to families in Herefordshire.
Mandie explained that the earliest years make the biggest impact and the Home-Start team make sure those years count so that no child’s future is limited. Without a stable, loving and nurturing environment, young children will not develop the vital foundations they need. Once the chance is missed, making up lost ground in later life is difficult, expensive and often just doesn’t happen.
The need for Home-Start services has risen over the last couple of years and keeping up with demand can be a challenge but this amazing team are doing a commendable job and the club were only to happy to help with a grant.
