As the saying goes, you're never too old to learn something new and we certainly found this out when a group of our members visited Envirosort Worcester recently.
Ever wondered what happens to the contents of your green wheelie bins when they are collected? Well we got up close and personal and found out!
After a little time well spent in the classroom we all discovered that we had been including items for recycling which ought not to have gone in the green bin! Ooops!
After the classroom session and a little larking about (there always has to be fun) we went to an observation platform to see the work taking place in the factory. To our astonishment we found out that the factory can process over 100,000 tons of refuse for recycling every year from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. How incredible!
One of the learning points from the visit was...'if in doubt, leave it out!'
Very sound advice we think.
