Hereford City Rotary Club has always supported hard working charities and we were delighted to be invited to Home-Start Herefordshire's recent tea party.
Their press release summed up the day nicely:
Home-Start Herefordshire was delighted to welcome Robert Robinson, the High Sheriff of Herefordshire, and his wife Sue to a tea party in the beautiful garden overlooking the River Wye belonging to Trustee Virginia Taylor and her husband, Martin. “This was a special event”, said Chairman of Trustees Andy Walkden, “to thank our wonderful volunteers for all the work they do for our families and the continuing support of our funders and friends.” Our President Alex James, herself a Volunteer, spoke of her experience first-hand and involvement with Home-Start over many years.
Following the event, at which the High Sheriff also spoke movingly, he kindly featured us on his Facebook page: “A day to say a big thank you to the volunteers, friends, and supporters who keep the wheels turning at Home-Start Herefordshire. Their mission is to recruit and train volunteers to visit families with children 0-18 at home and give them informal, friendly, and confidential support while they try to cope with pretty well anything life is throwing at them, signposting, advising, and supporting. Especially valuable in a rural county like ours, where isolation can make everything a whole lot worse. No judgement, just kindness, and anyone might need that.”
Our Chairman echoed those sentiments. “Home-Start Herefordshire has been running its service for over 40 years. We are there for parents when they need us the most because childhood can’t wait. Starting in the home, our approach is as individual as the families we are helping. We would also like to thank Councillors Ivan Powell and Toni Fagan, Cabinet Member and Member of the Scrutiny Committee for children and young people, respectively, and all our guests for attending and showing us their support.”
It is a pleasure to support this incredible charity and see the life changing work that they do.
