High Praise & Recognition for Students
St Thomas Cantilupe Students Receive Rotary Certificates of Achievement
A primary school in Hereford has been recognised by the Hereford City Rotary Club for its recent outstanding project work. Class 5 students at St Thomas Cantilupe Church of England Primary School have produced a series of films to raise awareness of the pollution problems affecting the River Wye in Herefordshire and their productions will be shown not only in Herefordshire but further afield.
Working with local filmmaker, Kie Cummings, the students produced a series of well-crafted stories highlighting the plight of the River Wye, after researching the issue, talking with experts and even drawing the attention of river activist Feargal Sharkey on social media.
Hereford City Rotary members were so impressed with the students’ efforts and hard work that each one was presented in school with a Rotary Certificate of Achievement.
Ron Pearce, Hereford City Rotary Youth Service lead said, “Education is a key area of focus for Rotary International and in Hereford we are committed as Rotarians to helping young people achieve their full potential. We are so proud of these students and what they have achieved.”
Hereford City Rotary Club are working in collaboration with the Wye and Usk Foundation and other active organisations in a bid to bring about improvements in water quality in the Wye and most recently supported the successful Save the Wye event in Hereford.
