It was a pleasure to support Hope Scott House at their recent Curry & Quiz night at the Railway Club in Hereford. The room was filled with experienced and budding 'egg heads', from teams such as 'The Mushrooms', 'The Empty Vessels' and 'Absolutely Useless', all ready to jostle for the winning spot.
With specialist and general rounds encompassing music, theatre, films, geography and of course Herefordshire, what could go wrong? The atmosphere was tense, the competition between teams palpable and the cheers and groans comical.
Our merry group of members had no expectations of success, so we were taken aback when we streaked up the leader board after the first half and ended up in a tie-breaker situation at the finish. But who would have thought that we would lose the winner podium over a question about 'The Archers'!
We resigned ourselves to second place but secretly harboured a delight that we had made it into the second spot. Who would have thought it?
Hope Scott House staff and volunteers organised an amazing evening, which was welcoming and fun. The food, raffle prizes and master of ceremonies were all very memorable. We're so pleased it was such a success and look forward to doing it again very soon.
