In 2020 The City of Hereford Rotary Club granted £2056 to PONHEARY LY FOUNDATION CAMBODIA to finance the set-up of a library in Primary Koh Ker school.
During 2022, the club has given a further grant of £500 to this Foundation for the purchase locally of 300 books for rotation to three primary school libraries.
Bulk purchase is made by Knar Learning Centre and every month 25 new books are sent to Koh Ker School. Koh Ker School then send 25 of their oldest books to Romchek School who do likewise to Prey Kuol School. In this way all 530 primary students have access to every book purchased, always ensuring students have fresh titles coming in.
During Covid, primary school children’s libraries in remote areas were student’s only lifeline to literary education. Since Covid, students have become lively readers and are engaging at much higher level during Library activities.
