Brian Morman - Have You Got Enough?

Brian's talk was all about his work at Brunsdons, their charity foundation and having reached the age of 60, writing a book.

Brian reminded us that we are all living longer and therefore need more wherewith all to carry us through to our final destination. He reminded us that we are the ‘Baby Boomers’ and then showed a short video montage of some of the main events of our youth. Rock and Roll, decimal currency, the Internet, mobile phones, miners strikes and moon walks to name but a few!

Brunsdons is a family firm that was started in 1930. It has just carried out a 20/20 review of it’s activities and formed its next 5 year plan. Clients interests are uppermost in their culture and staff are reminded of this. They also operate a ‘ Whole Company’ approach (as they have any companies within the group). They are also keen on community support that they do as part of their ‘Heartfelt’ foundation. We are all aware of the support that Brian and his company have given our club in the past and we are extremely grateful for it.

Brian then explained that having reached the age of 60, he set himself 60 challenges to do in that year, but realising that this was too much to cope with reduced the number to 6! 3 peaks challenge, Zipwires, Ski Blackrun, wing walking and writing and publishing a book, were amongst them!

Brian completed his talk with some interesting facts about our longer living population. Apparently, the first person to live to 150 is already 50 years old! Brian is attempting to emulate that to some degree having embarked on a fitness regime, based on the 5 -2 diet, which is his personal Plan.

A handy golfer, playing of 12, he cuts a fine figure and is obviously a very driven and sincere person. He might not make the 150, but he is sure going to give it a fair crack!
