Thank you everyone for supporting Rotary at Christmas.
Our Santa Sleigh tours around Stony Stratford and Fairfields (unfortunately the tour of Wolverton had to be cancelled because of torrential rain) and our Santa collections at Sainsbury's in Central MK raised the fantastic sum of £3,552.
And our popular mulled wine stall at the Stony Stratford Lights Fair on 30 November raised £2,152.
Club President Indra Patel commented "We are extremely grateful to our members for all their hard work planning and attending these events, to all our friends and volunteers for helping, and of course to all the public who gave so generously. A big thank you to Sainsbury's for allowing us to collect at their store and to Akbar of the Kardamom Lounge in Stony Stratford for permitting us to base our mulled wine stall in the covered way next to his restaurant".
At a special meeting in February the club was delighted to welcome guests from various local charities to receive cheques funded by the collections, including Willen Hospice, Unity MK (formerly Winter Night Shelter), Baby Basics MK, Wolverton Scouts, Wolverton Inner Wheel and Talent Unlimited (a local group which develops creative talents of people with autism). The club has also been very pleased to be able to make further donations to several other charities and organisations including Stony-in-Bloom, Wolverton-in-Bloom and Keech Hospice.
