Rail & Canal Festival at Wolverton Park
A wonderful weekend of boats, talks, stands, exhibitions, amusements and food celebrating the extraordinary shared heritage of this undiscovered sports ground and the canal in the heart of Wolverton.
Wolverton & Stony Stratford Rotary was very pleased to be one of the event's founding sponsors in support of the festival, organised by local charity 'MK Canals', alongside the Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council, MK Community Foundation and Places for People.
Pictured is the brisk trade on our stall at Wolverton Park giving out information leaflets and selling raffle tickets.
Congratulations to raffle prize winners Anna, Dan, M Clague and Judith. Thank you to the Cock Hotel for donating the top prize of two tickets to its 'Christmas Dinner with Carols' event on 21st December and the other prize donors Sainsbury's CMK, Indra, Judith, Allan, Chris and Pat.
New container for Wolverton Community Orchard
Pictured is Rotarian Club President Chris with Paul and Linda from the Community Orchard group inspecting the new secure container following its installation.
Created in 2003 from a derelict allotment site, the Orchard now houses over 50 fruit trees, a sensory garden, wildlife pond and much, much more. It's open to the public 24/7 and is well used for picnics, get-togethers etc. The Orchard group holds community events with live music and refreshments, as well as weekly volunteer sessions every Tuesday throughout the year. All are welcome! In 2013 the Group was honoured to receive the King's Award for Volunteer Service.
