VP Alan Bradshaw in the chair, welcomed three visitors, Gordon Brewster and Alistair Plank from the Carse of Stirling, accompanying Hannah Box International exchange student from the Black Mountain club of North Carolina.
We are again taking part in the shoe box appeal, each member having to fill two boxes for distribution internationally to areas of natural disaster. Seven members helped in stewarding at the successful Strathcarron 10 K run. As a general theme of the meeting VP Alan highlighted World Mental Health Day. International exchange student Hannah is currently studying for a master's degree at Stirling University, with an interest in environmental studies, particularly marine renewable energy and public transportation which is very limited in N Carolina. The Black Mountain club, which has partially funded her studies meets at lunch time and has about 50 members.
As we had visitors from the Carse and the USA, there was an interesting discussion on how different clubs functioned and how Rotary might develop in the future.
Next week Friday 18th October speaker's host Jim Kerr, visitor's host Lilliane McGeoch.
