Report on recent visit to Bannockburn House

Twelve members of Stirling Rotary Club had an excellent visit to Bannockburn House on Monday 29th of October.

We were given a very interesting guided Tour of the House by Volunteer Guide Stuart Campbell, who talked about the history and the families that made this 17th Century A Listed Mansion House so important to the Bannockburn area, situated close to, two famous Battlefields, Bannockburn and Sauchieburn. Famous guests entertained in the House have been members of Royalty, including Bonnie Prince Charlie.
BANNOCKBURN HOUSE has been unoccupied for over 50 years except by caretakers and is now in Community ownership through the Bannockburn House Trust, with the help of the Scottish Land Trust and Stirling Council. A dedicated Team of Volunteers are in the process of carefully restoring the House and Gardens.
Following the Tour of the House, we were given a delicious afternoon tea served by lady volunteers in the dining room.

Our next Visit for Members and Partners is taking place on Monday 12th of November at 2 pm.
