Newport Pagnell Rotary
Its been a very busy start to the new calendar year. We were visited by two Rotary Global Grant Scholars from the USA and Japan who talked to us about their lives so far and their aspirations for the future. They are both studying as post graduates for one year at University College London with Scholarships provided by Rotary International's Global Grant educational programme . We are visited by global scholars quite frequently and they never cease to impress with their intellectual and articulate abilities as well as their sheer motivation and enthusiasm
More recently we enjoyed an evening at the Young Musician of the Year competition at Ousedale School which is part of a national competition organised by Rotary. It is very encouraging to see and hear so much young talent.
We have also found time to enjoy ourselves at our annual Frugal Lunch party held in Chicheley Village Hall where fellow Rotarians provide modest dishes for consumption accompanied by a great deal of social intercourse. More recently, our President organised a fun evening at the Horseshoe in Lavendon which included dinner and pub games for Rotarians and their family and friends. So, as you can see, Rotary is not just about fundraising and doing charitable deeds, its very much about enjoying ourselves in an atmosphere of fellowship and friendship.
The Club also had the pleasure of welcoming an Olney resident, Jim Coley, as a new member and it is anticipated that another application for membership will come to fruition in early March.l
If you are at all interested in finding out more, please come along and talk to us at one of our Wednesday evening meetings in the Swan Revived Hotel in Newport Pagnell at 8.00 pm. You would be most welcome and you would find that both our men and lady members would be happy to answer any questions you might have without any obligation.C ontact Geoff Simmonds on 07778 397096.
