Our guest of honour at Club Assembly was District Assistant Governor Janis Harding from the Rotary Club of Buckingham. Janis outlined District 1260's objectives for Rotary Year 2019-20, and congratulated Geoff Simmonds for continuing as our President.
Geoff presented a humorous review of the last year, and his vision for 2019-20.
Our Club's succession plans were disrupted by members moving home or unfortunately suffering illness. Consequently, President Geoff agreed to continue in office, and Past President Derek stepped up as President Elect.
Although our Club will maintain its commitment to Rotary's international projects, we will strengthen our ties with Newport Pagnell though more events like the Spring Fayre and Concert in St Peter & St Paul's church.
Our recruitment activities during the last few years led to the Chartering of the new Rotary Club of Woburn Sands and District. Unfortunately, new members joining our own Club have been offset by existing members moving away. One of our priorities for the coming Rotary year will be to rebuild our membership to former levels. We can visualise many projects to benefit our community, but we need to have enough members to complete them.
We welcome new members who want to contribute to the wellbeing of our town and neighbouring area. If you are interested to find out more, just pop along to the bar in the Swan Revived Hotel in Newport Pagnell at 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening for an informal chat, or telephone our President, Geoff Simmonds, on 07778397096.
