Speaker Sabrina Ko - Youth Camp in Denmark

Sabrina Ko is an accomplished violin player who has recently attended a Rotary Youth Camp in Denmark.
Newport Pagnell Rotarians were lucky to not only learn about Sabrina’s experiences at a Rotary Youth Exchange Programme visit to Denmark but to then listen to her virtuoso violin performance.
In August 2018 she was one of about 20 Rotary Youth Camp delegates to participate in various outdoor activities – mainly mountain-biking but also spending time with Danish host families. She spoke enthusiastically about the many new challenges she faced as well as the deep friendships established with other delegates who represented twelve different nationalities.
An extremely accomplished musician, she has been selected to attend the Rotary Youth Exchange Music Camp in San Diego later this year. Apart from multiple rehearsals, delegates are required to play in five public concerts within the five-week period of her stay in San Diego. So, whilst we may reasonably anticipate that her experiences will be equally enjoyable as her stay in Denmark, it also requires a high degree of commitment and hard work.
Sabrina concluded her talk by playing an extremely moving rendition of ‘Meditation’, composer Jules Massenet. We were privileged to have such a talented speaker and musician and wish her success in joining the Birmingham Conservatoire having reached the final four candidates for possible acceptance.
