Dictionaries for Schools

In 2011, the Rotary club of Beaconsfield became involved in the Rotary International literacy program to help educate children worldwide. On a local level, the Beaconsfield club became involved with the Dictionary 4 Life project by presenting an Usborne illustrated dictionary to each of the children in year five at Holtspur School, Beaconsfield.

Since 2011 Rotary club of Beaconsfield has expanded this project annually to include three schools in Beaconsfield : Holtspur School, Butlers Court School and St Mary's School. In 2016 we added a fourth school to the list, Tylers Green Middle School, and now all year four children in these schools are presented with the dictionaries which they can use at school and to keep as their own.

These books are much more than a basic dictionary with guidance on correct grammar and punctuation usage as well as over 1,000 explanatory diagrams which were so well appreciated by students and their teachers.

The Rotary membership is made up of professional and business people who enjoy fun, fellowship and would like to give something back. If you enjoy helping others connecting with Rotary gives you the chance to do something really worthwhile. What is more, as a member of Rotary you will benefit from being part of a large international trusted organisation which is committed to ensuring that your efforts in helping local and overseas communities are well organised, productive and rewarding.
