Hugh Chamberlain saw an advert for someone to help keep the garden at Amersham Hospital looking good and decided to give it a go.
When the Covid epidemic was raging, the NHS staff were really feeling the pressure. Hugh didn’t think it would become anything more than a bit of garden upkeep.
With the help of about 15 to 20 volunteers, some money and expert advice from local companies and groups (including Amersham Rotary), the garden has been completely transformed. They even donated a polytunnel, tools and bulbs, and now the garden boasts over 140 different kinds of plants!
The garden has become a lovely place for the staff, patients and visitors to relax.
