Great cooks of the future

Rotary Young Chef
22 November 2025

.

The Rotary Young Chef Local Heat, held at Pipers Corner School, brought together seven talented young chefs from Pipers Corner and Misbourne Schools, aged 11 to 16.

Judged by renowned local culinary experts Tim Dawson and Mick Carling, the competition highlighted exceptional skill, creativity, and passion for cooking.

Congratulations go to Rose Kawalec (age 11) from Pipers Corner School, who impressed the judges and secured first place. Rose now advances to the District Final in early 2026.

All competitors were recognised for their hard work and outstanding dishes — including Thai curry, salmon en croute, pork tenderloin in creamy sauce, and homemade pasta with salmon and dill sauce.

All seven received a Competition Recognition Certificate.

2nd and 3rd place: Gift vouchers

4th–7th place: Cookbooks

Winner Rose Kawalec: Gift voucher + qualification to the District Final

Representing Rotary on the day were David Cadwallader (President) and Stephen and Rita Shearing (Youth Studies).

A huge thank you to all the competitors, judges, staff, and supporters who helped make this event a celebration of young culinary talent.

Well done to all our Young Chefs—and best of luck to Rose in the District Final!
