Eighteen teams, representing local schools, took part in the annual Rotary Technology Tournamenton 26th February. The event, which was held at Chiltern Hills Academy, was organised by the Rotary Clubs of Amersham, Chesham, and Great Missenden. The participating teams, grouped into Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced categories, were tasked with designing and producing a movable bridge, using straws, card, paper clips, plastacine, dowels, and wooden pulleys. Moreover the bridge had to work! Marks were awarded not only for the functionality of the final construction, but also for the way each team went about working together, elaborating and documenting principals, and documenting the design process. All this had to be done in less than 3 hours, yet the results were a credit to all who took part.
