The title was his own!
In his amusing talk, Charles gave us a very interesting summary of his life. He was brought up in Hampton in Middlesex, and attended St Paul’s School in London.
His journey to school was eased every morning in the chauffeur driven car of his neighbour, who then eased him seamlessly into his working life at Shell Mex BP, where he worked in sales and marketing in oils and lubes.
The company split into two, and Charles continued at BP where he rose finally to run the Sealand Petroleum operation, ending his 32-year career as a member of the Management Board, and retiring at 50.
A busy period followed, involving work on the Mental Health Appeals Board and participation in the Chiltern District Council revitalisation project.
Charles is married to Anne, and has two sons and five grand-children. In his spare time he is a Trustee of the Middlesex Sports Foundation and, amongst other things, is a supporter of Wasps Rugby Club.
